I had my first detector about 1975. I used it for a while until I couldn't take the questions from people ( what did you find, how much did it cost, let me see what you found, are you covering the holes you dig, can I try the machine, etc etc etc) I put the machine away for about 40 years due to work, Now retired i took the machine out to find it didn't work. I couldn't find the company searching on the computer so I started to do my homework.
Researched a machine, ordered and in two days I had received the GARRETT AT PRO yesterday. I was using it today in my back yard. Talk about work. I suspect it is due to my lack of knowledge .Watched all the videos on the computer which were a tremendous helped to make my first adjustments.
Dug a few holes almost to china ( I live in New Jersey) roots of the few trees are a big problem. After about 3 hours I Found one penny 1975, one piece of a rock which kept sending the machine crazy, aluminum round metal piece, and one nail. My pointer is on order, so I hope with it and learning to use the machine It will get easer to discriminate materials. The GARRETT AT PRO gets heavy after a while. The head set is comfortable with good independent sound control for both ears. Assembly is straight forward without any complications. The GARRETT EDGE DIGGER bent going around roots in only few minutes of use. I kept getting readings in the very high 90 range wile in standard mode set to zero metal discriminate at 28.
If any of the experienced people have any tips , good or negative please let me know.
