Here is a few tips when out hunting that may increase your chances of making more great finds.
Always look the site over and try to think where the last place a hunter like yourself would try to hunt at. Most of the time hunters will go right to the major activity area of the site and pass up other hidden spots that have been less pounded and may still have some keepers for that one lucky hunter who gives these areas a try. Along roads, ditches, tree belts, etc.
The more you know about the site or area your detecting in will greatly increase your chances of being successful as well. The more knowledge you know on specific sites the better you may do. Research is the key to them out of the way and long forgotten spots that once had a lot of activity thus dropped Coins, Relics, Jewelry.
Always hunt with a positive attitude as well. Once you start thinking negative, you may never get out of a slump if your in one. Just remember that the next target....that being a Deeper Target or a Shallower one......maybe the great find you've been looking for.
Pattern the area you are detecting. Overlap your Coil swings up to 50% for maximum coverage. The more ground you cover the better. Patterning an area will also leave less keepers in the ground and more in your pouch. Also....one thing to remember when Patterning.....just because you covered the area doing this technique don't think you have found all the goodies. Sometimes it takes different sweep speeds or angles to get signals on some keepers next to Iron or Trash so always try different directions also.
The more sites you find with a lot of activity the better you will do (unless of course someone has beaten you to the site). Always look for potential spots when out driving around and get any needed permission by land or property owners as well.
I hope this helps some of you who visit this site. I wish you Good Luck and HH and hope to see some good finds being posted in the Finds Category. James.
